Whoops! That delay (and this whole thing, hahahaha I thought I'd be done with it in a day) took longer than expected, sorry! Unfortunately I've got another stretch of busy time coming up starting Thursday, so even though I've got some more work I'm gonna try to push through this and finish up by the end of Wednesday. Let's see what we can do!

Auklet Town is covered in a heavy fog as we enter... and are interrupted by someone, hm!

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Oh, a nurse! I wonder what she's doing out of the pokémon center.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Something Terrible Has Happened! All right, now we've got some excitem— er, I mean, oh, no! What ever is the matter?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Thaaaat's definitely a problem, yep.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Not sure how you came to that conclusion considering you were just walking away, but sure, I guess?

Apparently I'm offering to help, but the nurse has no more useful information and just tells me to ask around instead.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

The first few people I found just talk about how concerned they are, but check out this great ball! Let's see what's inside...

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Ah, yep, it's a TM. This one's just roar, as TM05 usually is.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Finally, someone who has a suspect! Or would, anyway, if there were any such thing as ghosts. Pfft. Keep it together, old woman, a child has gone missing here and we don't have time for your superstitious nonsense!

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

This lady says that the girl's family lives next door to their house (not far from the silly old woman), and then says this. Hm...

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Aha! So you've got some useful information for me, right?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

...no, no you don't. Good lord, can anyone at least tell me where she was last seen or something?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

(Minor font error; it says "...I...I'm sorry, I can't talk right now...")

You people are useless. You know what, fine, you can find your daughter your own damn selves. There isn't even a gym or a fishing rod or anything in this dinky town anyway. I'm gonna bounce, losers.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Oh.

*sigh* I can't move on until I've solved their mystery for them, so I'm stuck here for now. Well, I guess the girl's father mentioned owning the local lighthouse; maybe I should check over there.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

A nearby kid said that this is the place. I should probably just march right in and start looking around, but I'm still annoyed and figure I can take a little time to see whether anything's in that grass first.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Squeaker! You are an order of magnitude more interesting than the unhelpful whiny people and their boring town, squeaker. (Not interesting enough to make it onto the team this run because normal, but still.)

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

...that's a bloody specific thing to evolve, pal. Anyway, what else is out here? Fuegruff, perhaps?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

No fuegruff so far, just a bunch of other squeaker and more albaloo, but then I found zuzumi here! C'mere, you little marshmallow fluffball friend.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Really? Well, I'm afraid you won't be hopping into my team either since I've got an electric-type already, too, but that's interesting.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

It would appear there are no fuegruff here after all, but I did go ahead and catch a slightly stronger albaloo to use. For now adventurous Malda here is taking Sparkly Ilario's spot (sorry, man, but that backsass in the forest was just too painful... also, again, already have bug and flying covered), although technically she's Ragno's replacement. It's just that Ragno's higher level and lower propensity for insubordination mean he'll probably be more useful to keep around until something else non-normal and non-flying can be found.

(Hey, I just noticed that the animation in this screenshot makes Malda's left eye look like a dollar sign. It's an omen! Clearly she has come to make me lots and lots of TV money!)

Now that that's squared away, let's hit the lighthouse! That girl better be in there, man. I've had it up to here with these useless jerks and their unhelpful blithering.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Oh.

"Perhaps someone has a key..."

What, you mean the girl's dad? That would make sense, although it sure would've helped if he'd given it to me before. You know, when I was actually asking for his assistance while trying to find his daughter.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

You'd better. >(

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Finally! Now we're getting somewhere. How about next time you be a little more forthcoming with your information when your child is missing, eh, pal?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Inside at last! Geez, this place is a dump... you let your daughter run around in here? You are the worst dad.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Holes in the floor. I see where this is going. I also see further evidence that I should call Child Protective Services and inform them that this man allows his daughter to play in multi-story deathtraps. A good parent would encourage her to pursue safer, more restrained activities, like giving her a fire-breathing monster and sending her out on the road to antagonize other fire-breathing monsters. I mean, there are monsters in here, too (already found zuzumi and squeaker), but at least out on the road there are no holes to fall through!

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Because there isn't already enough dangerous rubble scattered around here. (Why are there even rocks in a lighthouse? What do you do in here, man?)

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

I see. The box was covering up another hole in your Swiss cheese floor. How is this place still standing?

For some reason I can't actually drop through the hole, so I'm not even sure what I just smashed that box for. I guess I need to head back down to the previous level and see if there's another way forward.

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

Ah, yes, we were a bit overdue for another "What on God's green earth is that?" Why are there robots in your lighthouse, man? Rodents I can understand, they get into everything and chew it to bits, but robots? What is going on here? What are you doing?

Ethereal Gates Demo 1.0 Screenshot

I didn't catch that magnut because I am greedy/too lazy to play a bunch of catch-up and want to see if there are stronger ones, but in the mean time I've figured out what's going on with the boxes. When you smash a box, the boards fall down the hole and create a bridge, allowing you to access other ladders on the floor beneath. Convenient! Now to march onward. My curiosity has definitely been piqued. Forget the little girl—I want to know what nefarious schemes her father has been working on in here with all these rocks and robots.

...which will have to wait until tonight, because I've got to run to work now! Catch y'all (and possibly a magnut) later!
