Altered Origin is twelve years old today, and I've got a few presents for you all!
Hello, and happy new year! This isn't the annual resolution post or a proper content update—that'll likely fall on or around my birthday, as per usual. This is just a quick notice to say that I'm going to be making another server move very soon, possibly even starting tomorrow (Monday the 21st). I do apologize for the short notice, but my current host has made some recent changes that I'm not happy about, and I'd like to be switched over to my new host (and hopefully last for a long while) before the month ends so I don't have to pay the current provider for February.
As with any server move, there's likely to be some downtime as files and especially the domain name are switched over to the new host. This will affect Altered Origin as well as the Phoenixdex and Turquoise, but hopefully any disruption in service will be minimal.
See you all on the other side, hopefully with some new stuff in tow!
Altered Origin turns eleven years old today! Not as momentous as ten, certainly, but still a little terrifying, haha. It's going to be another quiet one due to busy days and a few personal hiccups, but here's what I've got...
I'm still having some difficulty processing it, to be honest. Ten years. Ten years ago was when the Demented Chicken Network first saw the light of day, tossed up on some inexpensive hosting while I was lounging around in my dorm during freshman year. And having written that I've just realized that this website, as dcNET and Altered Origin and all the miscellanous constituent projects that popped up here and there and were eventually folded back in, like Insubstantiality (my sporadic "blogging") or 493 (the one-shot pokédex project that survives today as 807 mini), has been with me for almost my entire adult life so far. Oh, man. That's... that's a thing. That is a thing. I don't know what to do with this information.
I'll figure it out eventually, I suppose. In the mean time, how about a few birthday updates so you visitors can enjoy yourselves while I'm over here having my mind blown?
Long time no see, friends! Haven't made much headway on the larger projects yet, unfortunately, but I figured I could at least put up some new fanart I've been forgetting to upload for ages.
